Buying a nursing bra is an important purchase. We believe moms should be informed, especially when buying something that affects your breast health such as a nursing bra. Whether you shop Bravado Nursing Bras or other brands, there are a few facts you need. Nursing bras with polyester cups do not breathe. You don't need to make yourself susceptible to sore nipples or yeast by keeping nipples wet. That is why Lactation Connection is very selective about the brands we carry and only offer nursing bras from companies with this in mind. In addition, underwire nursing bras can plug milk ducts especially if worn during the early weeks of breastfeeding. We carry soft cup nursing bras that are wire free! Plugged ducts can lead to lower milk supply or breast infection so avoiding underwire nursing bras is optimal during the first six to eight weeks postpartum. Your breasts are fuller before feedings and emptier afterwards especially in the first two months. This makes it hard to get an under wire to sit behind the breast tissue. Your breasts change again at about six months when your baby begins to nurse less often. We care about your breast health! Sleep nursing bras are important for light-weight support and leakage at night. Sleep bras for breastfeeding don't have hooks in the back to make sleep uncomfortable. Most women wear the wrong size bra and that is even more prevalent when your shape is changing. One solution is the multi-cup nursing bras such as the Bravado BodySilk nursing bra that accommodates a wide variety of cup sizes. Visit our nursing bra fitting room to measure yourself. A good fitting bra will not ride up your back or push your breast together. Instead it should lift and separate. When trying on a bra, make sure to lift your breast up into it and then adjust the straps accordingly.
