Mamivac Cherry Shaped Nipple Shield is the most recommended nipple shield by IBCLCs and Midwives. This nipple shield is especially helpful for babies with latch difficulties caused by disorganized sucking patterns, tethered oral tissues (tongue-tie, lip-tie), low muscle tone & increase in body tension. Mamivac cherry shaped nipple shields imported from Germany can help with latching difficulties more effectively than the traditional shapes. This appears to be particularly helpful for baby with sucking difficulties, tongue tie, etc. Rounded with indentations that can help baby “catch” onto nipple rather than sliding down shaft of a conical shield. Available in 18mm, 22mm and 28mm. To use, measure nipple diameter after stimulation (nipple should be erect). Add ~2–4 mm for shield size. The nipple should move freely inside the shield during sucking—not rub or stretch against the side. Tips for use, run the nipple shield under warm water to help it adhere. Invert the nipple shield half way and center it over the nipple. Release the nipple shield and allow it to suction on flush with the skin.
