This Ameda ultra-thin, flexible 16mm nipple shield is for short-term use to encourage a baby's latch to the breast or to help a bottle-fed babies return to breastfeeding. Also used for assistance with latch for flat or inverted nipples. Cut-out design allows to skin-to-skin contact between babies chin and mother's breast. Skin to skin contact produces a more stable heart rate and breathing pattern for baby and elevates a hormone response in mothers for a healthier milk supply.
Pro Tip:
If using a nipple shield for an extended period of time, it is advisable to add 10 minutes of double pumping 1-3 times daily to offset the decrease in stimulation and increase milk production.
